Democrats have good reason to be optimistic about getting a voice on the Jefferson County Board of Legislators this year with Heather McGregor running in District 6 to represent the Town of Wilna and part of the Town of LeRay.
Heather is challenging Republican incumbent Daniel R. McBride, of Carthage, for a seat at the table. She has fantastic North Country credentials — a native of Black River, now living in Carthage, and a graduate of both Carthage Central School and Jefferson Community College (JCC). She’s worked in health administration for 25 years, with the past 14 spent as an administrative assistant at North Country Family Medicine.
Over the past weeks and months, Heather has been visiting her friends and neighbors nearly every day as she walks her dogs. Aside from having some lovely chats, she’s been speaking with community members to find out their concerns for the community and plans to bring those concerns to the Board of Legislators once elected. Heather’s also been remarkably active in community wellness and engagement efforts: from supporting the VEM (Village Ecumenical Ministries) Food Pantry to marching in Carthage’s Patriotic Parade for the America 250 celebration, and from donating blood during American Red Cross blood drives to participating in Carthage Chamber of Commerce meetings and events, she’s been on-the-go this spring and summer, working to improve the lives of those in her district.
Heather believes in a strong Social Service system, public health, a living wage, affordable housing, supporting unionized workers and working people, and creating a stronger, more prosperous community for her district and the entire North Country.
The Jefferson County Democratic Committee is proud to encourage voters in District 6 to support Heather McGregor’s election to the Jefferson County Board of Legislators. She has also received endorsements from the Tri-County Central Labor Council and the Working Families Party.
